National Garden Scheme
Good Friday, 2nd April, 11am - 4pm.
We will be supporting the NGS on Good Friday and all admission fees will go directly to the charity. The National Garden Scheme gives visitors unique access to over 3,500 exceptional private gardens in England and Wales, and raises impressive amounts of money for nursing and health charities. Find out more about the charity HERE.
The gardens are looking exceptional at this time of year with spring bulbs bursting into life. The Courtyard shop will be brimming with plants, gifts and homewares. Loos will be open but there will be no refreshments available at the moment.
Sweet Pea Season
From 23rd June.
Each year when the roses are out in the meadows and the drums are filled with strong sweet pea plants, we open the gardens for Sweet Pea Season. Visitors are able to see some perfect blooms in stripes, bicolours, picotee, pastels and deep velvet tones. The scent alone is worth the trip!
There is nothing about the sweet pea flower that is remotely unattractive and there are few pleasures like really burrowing your nose into sweet peas. The two words in the flower’s scientific name, “Lathyrus odoratus,” mean “fragrant” and also “very attractive.” Simply put, this flower is beautiful in real life.
Down the lane, through the gate and beyond the wall, the heady scent greets you as you enter the vegetable garden. Come and discover rows of colourful blooms, over 50 varieties, including our trial sweet peas in the walled garden. We grow highly scented sweet peas, heritage or antique sweet peas, modern varieties and everything in between!
The gardens and shop will be open from Wednesdays to Sundays, 11am – 4pm. Admission to the gardens is £8 for adults and £4 for Children. If you would just like to visit the shop, you can do so without paying to enter the gardens.
