Few decorative crafts can claim to be more ancient than stone carving, with the earliest carved objects being dated well into prehistory. During this one day workshop, Alan Micklethwaite, one of the country’s finest stone carvers, introduces beginners to the basic techniques, tools and principles of stone carving.
Students will be taken through the process of making a simple design, which will be transferred to stone, then cut in a relief carving using stone carving tools. At the end of the day, you will have your own unique decorative carved stone to take home with you. All materials and tools will be provided.
