A sheet of silk screen printed paper with a traditional oriental design featuring layers of large white cranes, overlapping red blossom and apple green, jade and pastel yellow clouds. Each colour is applied individually by hand, all registered with incredible precision, creating an extraordinary depth of colour & pattern, finished with metallic ink creating a beautiful gold lustre.
The 88 g/m² base paper is a mixture of kozo and sulphite, so despite being light weight, this paper is extremely durable making it suitable for many applications including, bookbinding, origami, box-making, as well as interior projects such as wall covering and furniture lining. The paper is also perfect for wrapping up special gifts, or even for use in creative projects like scrapbooking and collage.
Each of Esmie’s designs are selected from an archive of designs in Kyoto Japan, where they work with family-run silk-screen print studios to produce their covering papers.
