Lathyrus odoratus 'Matucana'
An old fashioned sweet pea with beautiful deep purple and violet petals. A small flower but famous as one of the most scented of all sweet peas. Very similar to 'Wild Italian' but tends to have one more flower per stem. Suitable for pots.
Combines beautifully with the other very old form: Painted Lady
Height: About 1.4m
Sow: From November to March, undercover, In Spring can be sown direct or into pots. Protect seed from mice.
Flowers: May to September, depending on when sown.
Where to plant: Perfect for flower beds in the open or against a sunny wall; cottage gardens; courtyard gardens, cutflower gardens. Especially good for large containers.
