The cells can be opened like a book when the plant is established and reused several times. The long trays use a system called ‘air pruning’ which means that the primary root travels to the bottom of the cell where it dies off as it reaches air. This causes lots of subsidiary roots to branch out all along the root system and travel down the grooves in the cell where they reach the bottom, are exposed to air and they then produce more roots giving you an exceptionally strong plant to put out in the garden. Highly recommended.
