Spring is in the air

Gardens open for the season and there’s a special treat for Mum!

Yellow TulipsWe fling open our gates to the public on the 2nd of March, we are so excited to see the gardens become a hive of activity again and welcome visitors old and new.

On the 6th of March, it’s Mothering Sunday and what better place to spend Mother’s Day than in the ‘lost gardens’ of Lincolnshire, Easton Walled Gardens. March is beautiful at Easton. At the beginning of the month there may still be drifts of snowdrops followed by action in the Cedar and mini meadows featuring species tulips, anemone blanda and crocuses. A fine spring day is the perfect time to experience the awakening of these 400-year-old gardens.

The tea room will be open and serving delicious light lunches and tea and cakes. There is a delightful gift shop selling seasonal gifts and seeds from Easton. Admission is £7 for adults and £3 for children and the first 100 Mums will get a free copy of The English Garden magazine to take home with them!

Snowdrop Week

Snowdrop Week and Photography Exhibition a huge success

Snowdrop bankAs we close the garden gates on another successful snowdrop week, we can’t help but be very proud of ourselves on what we have achieved here at the gardens. The team have worked incredibly hard on preparing the whole 12 acres ready for our visitors and we have received some amazing comments and feedback. Thank you to all who visited and we do hope you will come back and visit when we open for the season on the 2nd March.

Jackie Murray’s snowdrop previews were very well received and visitors appreciated the opportunity to test her knowledge in the Coach House and purchase their own snowdrops, even the rarer varieties.

The essence of summer photography exhibition was rather popular during snowdrop week. The competition attracted over 900 entries in total and from those great images we awarded first prize to Hayley Willerton for her wonderful image of her son with a kite on the beach. The winner, category winners, runners up and highly commended images make a beautiful display in the coach house and the exhibition will be open during normal garden opening times until 1st April so do pop in and have a look.

We will be launching the next photographic competition very soon so watch this space!

Our New Holiday Cottage launches – The Gatehouse Lodge

Gorgeous Holiday Cottage launched

Gatehouse LodgeWe have just completed renovation work on our new holiday cottage at Easton Walled Gardens, giving guests the opportunity to stay in these lovely gardens and use them as their own for the duration of their stay and are now taking bookings for the Spring and Summer.

Four months ago the Lodge was derelict and had been used for storage for more than seventy years, having last been lived in as groom’s accommodation before the second world war.

Since November last year local builders Chris Davis and Alan Bontoft, helped from time to time by Estate staff, have worked day and night to complete the Lodge in time for Easter. The result is an extremely comfortable and cosy, one bedroomed holiday cottage with all that you would expect for a luxury getaway – a fully fitted kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, and microwave as well as the usual appliances; a snug sitting room with a woodburning stove; a mini-library with wifi and a space to work; a gorgeous bedroom with a super king bed and a luxurious bathroom, with both a bath and a walk-in shower.
