Famous Gardens

Discover One of the UK's Most Famous Gardens

Where Heritage Meets Wild Beauty

If you’re searching for famous gardens to visit in the UK, Easton Walled Gardens belongs firmly on your list. Tucked into the rolling Lincolnshire countryside, these historic gardens have been lovingly restored and reimagined, earning their place among Britain’s most treasured green spaces.

With roots stretching back over 400 years, Easton is a garden with stories in its soil. Once lost to time, it has been gently brought back to life, blending formal structure with a light, wild hand. Here you’ll find rose walks, sweet pea drifts, fruit trees, wildflower meadows, and long views that make you forget what you were rushing for.

Why Easton is One of Britain’s Most Famous Gardens

  • A 17th-century walled garden brought back to life by hand and heart
  • Renowned for its sweet peas, roses and naturalistic planting style
  • Celebrated in national press and gardening circles alike
  • Featured in The Guardian Top 20 gardens for 2025
  • A favourite among artists, writers and visitors seeking peace
  • Genuinely tranquil, deeply beautiful – without the crowds

This is not just another stop on the garden trail. It is a place of pause. A place to wander. A garden that still feels like a secret, even if it’s not.

Make a Day of It in The Courtyard

Enjoy a peaceful stroll through the gardens, stop for tea and cake in the Courtyard Coffee Room, and browse thoughtful gifts, books, stationery and artists materials in our shops – Griffin of Easton, and The Courtyard Shop. Dogs on leads are welcome in the Courtyard (guide dogs only in the gardens), and there’s no need to rush. Just follow the paths, find a bench, and let the garden do what it does best.

Easton Walled Gardens is open for day visitors from Wednesday to Sunday, and on Bank Holiday Mondays, 11am to 4pm.

Discover One of the UK’s Most Famous Gardens

Easton Walled Gardens is not just admired, it’s remembered. Quietly celebrated as one of England’s famous gardens, it combines structure and softness in a way that feels deeply English and effortlessly serene. It is not over-visited, over-edited or overdone. Just gently right.

A Quiet Fame

While other famous gardens attract queues and coaches, Easton offers a different kind of welcome. It’s a space to breathe, to think, to wander at your own pace. Visit midweek and you might have whole vistas to yourself. Sit in the orchard. Count bees. Read two chapters and forget your phone exists.
